Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information FAEQ collects when you use the FAEQ map app (https://map.faeq.co.in) and the FAEQ mobile apps, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible.

1. What we collect

  • Your account. When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID with us. We never see your Google password, and we do not get access to your Gmail, contacts, files or anything else in your Google account.
  • Your location. If you allow it, your device uses its location to show where you are on the map. We do not store your location on our servers.
  • Your camera. The camera is used only while the QR scanner is open. Codes are read on your device. We do not record, save or send camera images.
  • Business listings. If you add a business to the map, we keep the details you enter: its name, type, address, place on the map, phone number and whether it uses WhatsApp. Approved businesses, with their name, type, address and phone number, are shown on the map to everyone.
  • Proof documents. The licence or registration you upload to prove a business is stored privately. Only FAEQ staff can open it, to check the business.
  • WhatsApp location. If you choose to send your shop's location on WhatsApp, we receive your WhatsApp number, the location pin, and the place name and address WhatsApp adds. WhatsApp checks every number, so we record your number as verified with your business listing, with the date. The one-time code you send us is deleted after one day.
  • Business software. If your business asks for its own FAEQ business system (stock, purchases, expenses and accounts), what you enter there is stored on our servers for your business only.
  • Technical information. Like most websites, our server records basic technical details of each request (IP address, browser type, time and the page or map file asked for) to keep the service working and secure.

2. How we use it

We use this information only to run FAEQ: to sign you in, show the map and the answers you ask for, keep your listings and records, protect the service from misuse, and fix problems. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Services that receive information

FAEQ uses a small number of outside services. Each receives only what it needs:

  • Google: signs you in.
  • Meta (WhatsApp): delivers the messages you send to FAEQ's WhatsApp number, and our replies.
  • Photon (komoot): finds the area you search for, and the nearest address to a location you send us. It receives what you type in the area search and the map point.
  • Amazon Web Services: hosts our servers, located in Mumbai, India.
  • Open-Meteo: provides the weather. It receives the coordinates of the map area you are looking at.
  • OpenSky Network: provides live flights. It receives the edges of the map area you are looking at.
  • jsDelivr: delivers the code that reads QR codes. It does not receive camera images.
  • Google Maps: only if you tap "Directions", which opens Google Maps with the destination.

Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors, Microsoft and Overture Maps, and is served from our own server.

4. Google user data

FAEQ's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your Google name, email and picture only to create and show your FAEQ account.

5. How we protect it

All connections to FAEQ are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to our servers is restricted to a few authorised people using secure keys, and we keep the systems updated. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.

6. How long we keep it

  • Your account and listings, including a verified WhatsApp number: until you delete your account.
  • WhatsApp location codes: one day, then deleted automatically.
  • Technical server records: 14 days, then deleted automatically.

7. Your choices and rights

You can turn off location or camera access at any time in your browser or phone settings. You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything linked to it.

To do any of this, email connect@faeq.co.in from the email address of your account. We will reply within 30 days.

8. Children

FAEQ is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

When FAEQ starts collecting something new, we will update this page first and change the date at the top. For important changes, we will also tell you in the app.
